Global
Warming
Ecclesiastes
1: 4” One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth
abideth for ever.”
The hotter
the temperature the more the climate changes. Just in the last year the U.S has
seen the hottest year in history and record breaking droughts over 60% of the
country. The sea level has been accelerating rapidly by 7 inches of the past century.
In the
atmosphere carbon is attached to some oxygen in gas called carbon dioxide is a
green house gas and traps heat in the atmosphere. Without greenhouse gases
earth would be pretty much frozen. Since all of the pollution that has been
going on there is about 30% more carbon dioxide in the air than there was over
150 years ago.
The nitrogen
cycle carries out a process known as nitrous oxide also known as laughing gas. This
is also a green house gas which contributes to global warming.
The ozone layer
is a belt of natural occurring ozone gas sits 9.3 to 18.6 miles above earth and
in a sense is a shield from ultra violet radiation emitted by the sun.
For a little while now there have been large
amounts of concerns that the ozone level is deteriorating, thanks to the
release of pollution contaminating not only the ozone layer but the rest of the
earth as well. According to the U.S Environmental protection Agency “One atom
of chlorine can destroy more than a hundred thousand ozone molecules”. (National Geographic)
Not all
global warming is man made the ocean contains more carbon dioxide but when it
is warm it releases carbon dioxide naturally induced.
The ozone
hole formation differ from that of mid-latitude thinning. Most important
process in both catalytic destruction of ozone by atom halogen. The main source
of these compounds are sent into the stratosphere after being emitted at the
surface. Both of this type of ozone depletory were observed to increase an
amount of halo-carbon increased. There have many thoughts of biological
consequences such as increase in skin cancer, damage to plants, and reduction
of plankton populations in the oceans photic zone may have been resulted
from a large zone may have been resulted from a large increase of UV exposure
due to ozone depletion.
With global
warming as with any other topic, it is crucial to understand what the facts
are.
