How Solar Energy converts to Energy: Photosynthesis
and Biomass
Written for: Youth
“Plants do photosynthesis, a complicated process,
and without plants, we'd all be dead.”
~ Pamela Ronald~
Photosynthesis; is the process of converting light
energy to chemical energy and storing it into
sugar and other carbohydrates.
SUNLIGHT + CLOROPLAST+C02+H2O=PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Sunlight energy is a portion of the electromagnetic
radiation given off by the sun, particularly an
ultraviolet light. Sunlight is filtered through the
earth’s atmosphere due to UV rays and radiation.
Chloroplast is organetles found in plant cells and
algae that contributes to photosynthesis.
Chloroplast absorbs sunlight and uses it with water
and carbon dioxide to produce
food for the plant.
Chloroplast is what captures the energy from the
light stored in ATP and
NADPH to create a process called photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis generally is the synthesis of
sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water with
oxygen as a waste product.
Chlorophyll is a green photosynthetic pigment found
in plants, algae, and cyanobacteria.
Photosynthesis goes hand in hand with Biomass which
converts solar energy.
Biomass: “The amount of living matter in a given
habitat expressed either as the weight of
organisms per unit area or as the volume of
organisms per unit volume of inhabitants.”
Biomass is often consisted of plant derived
materials or converted onto a type of energy or
biofuel. Biomass is now commonly used to produce
heat (via direct combustion).
Biomass can also contribute to reducing carbon
dioxide which is a large distributer to global
warming (Greenhouse gas)
“Although burning biomass releases as much carbon
dioxide as burning fossil fuel does, this is
because carbon dioxide released fossil fuel which
was carbon fixated that had been locked in the
hydrocarbon of fossil fuel.”(Wikipedia)
So how does all this combined convert solar energy
to energy?
SOLAR ENERGY= PHOTOSYNTHESIS+BIOMASS=ENERGY
CONVERTED FROM SOLAR ENERGY
I also found this while prepping for this essay!!
It is a song called photosynthesis rap!!!
